Calculation Formulas & Methodology

Scientific references and mathematical logic driving our calculators.

Budget Allocation (50/30/20 Rule)

Needs = Income * 0.50 | Wants = Income * 0.30 | Savings = Income * 0.20

Divides monthly income into three main buckets: 50% for fixed needs (rent, bills, groceries), 30% for flexible wants (hobbies, dining out), and 20% for future goals (savings, investments, debt payment).

SIP Compound Interest

M = P * [((1 + i)^n - 1) / i] * (1 + i)

Calculates the future value of a Systematic Investment Plan. P is monthly deposit, i is monthly interest rate (annual rate / 12 / 100), and n is total monthly contributions (years * 12).

Fixed Deposit (FD) Compounding Yield

A = P * (1 + r/n)^(n*t)

Computes standard fixed deposit maturity value. P is principal sum, r is annual interest rate (decimal), n is compounding frequency (4 for quarterly, 12 for monthly), and t is duration in years.

Recurring Deposit (RD) Accrued Value

A = P * [ (1 + i)^n - 1 ] / [ 1 - (1 + i)^(-1) ] (compounded monthly)

Estimates RD maturity balance where equal monthly installments are compounded continuously at the end of every compounding period.

Tax Liability Bracket Progressive Calculation

Tax = Sum of (Taxable Income in Bracket * Bracket Tax Rate)

Computes progressive tax where income is subdivided into tax bands and each section is taxed at its respective marginal rate.

Break-Even Quantity Analyzer

Break-Even Units = Fixed Cost / (Unit Price - Variable Cost per Unit)

Calculates the quantity of sales required to cover all operating fixed and variable expenses, yielding exactly zero net operating profit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our Finance Tools tool.

Is my financial or salary data saved?

No. Just like all Imgira tools, all financial planning computations run entirely in your local browser's memory. No data is stored, tracked, or transmitted.

What compounding frequency is used for SIP, FD, and RD?

SIP investments assume monthly compounding. Fixed Deposits (FD) use quarterly compounding as standard, while Recurring Deposits (RD) calculate monthly or quarterly interest payouts based on standard bank parameters.
