Frustrated by online image tools that required uploading personal photos to unverified servers, the decision was made to build something better — a tool suite that processes everything locally in the browser.
Core Architecture Built
The browser-first processing engine was designed using WebAssembly, Canvas API, and Web Workers. The first tools — image compressor, resizer, and background remover — were built and tested.
Platform Expands to 50+ Tools
Imgira launched publicly with 50 tools spanning image processing, PDF editing, and data conversion. Early users validated the zero-upload privacy promise and spread the word organically.
100+ Tools Milestone
The platform grew rapidly to over 100 tools, adding developer utilities, text tools, SEO analysis, calculators, and AI-powered features. The blog launched to provide educational content alongside the tools.

We decided to build the tool we wanted to use ourselves. A platform that is always open, always private, and always free. By using modern browser APIs, we have eliminated the need for a processing backend, meaning your images, documents, and personal files stay on your RAM and local storage, and nowhere else.

Because we do not operate massive server farms to process user files, Imgira is one of the most eco-friendly ways to handle image compression, file conversion, and data processing. Your device does the computational work; our infrastructure footprint is just a few megabytes of static content delivery.
